Women’s Health and Nutrition

Fueling Through Puberty

Women continue to be disproportionately affected by many chronic diseases including chronic pain, osteoporosis, and autoimmune diseases, especially as we age. Not only that, but as women, we go through very different life stages that often aren’t talked about, let alone studied for what best practices may help alleviate symptoms and the risk of acquiring certain diseases.

The intersectionality between women’s health and nutrition has largely been under-studied and talked about, yet, it can have a huge effect on our health and how we feel as our bodies and priorities change.

Join Emily Opthof – “the Period RD” – in learning about evidence-based nutritional care for every stage in our life. From puberty to our periods, fertility and peri-menopause (which can happen as early as 40!), all the way to menopause and after, we’ll be discussing the challenges that can come with each stage in life and how to care for them from the inside out.

In the meantime, check out Emily’s blog post and video series featuring fitness tips for every phase of your menstrual cycle!

Body changes in puberty come with lots of questions, especially around food and health!

Emily the “Period RD” provides a breakdown of what parents and caregivers can expect in puberty for both boys and girls, common nutrition concerns that arise and strategies to support their child, how intuitive eating is a powerful skillset during puberty, and the importance of building a healthy body image in growing kids!

For questions we ran out of time for, Emily will answer them in a blog post!
